What's new with Collabra?

2021

Manage your connected accounts inside settings.

Here you can view a quick summary of which third-parties you're currently integrated with, and if any of them require action on your behalf. If you're having issues syncing content to a third-party, we recommend refreshing your account on this page (found in Settings → Connected Accounts) first.

We improved our Canvas integration (re-login with Canvas required).

We made some improvements to the stability of our Canvas integration. Because of this, you'll likely need to re-authenticate with Canvas (and will be asked to do so the next time you sync content). Your district may need to enable additional scopes. If it does, you will be presented with a message that shows what scopes are missing.

Teach together with Team Teaching.

Teachers, you may now add other teachers to help you manage your Collabra courses. To get started, go to the Students & Courses tab, click on the settings gear for a course you want to add another teacher to, and then click Manage Teachers at the top-right of the page.

Click Add Teachers and select another teacher inside your site or district to add, and optionally update what they’re allowed to see & do by setting their permissions.

Create copies of your assessments.

Find yourself creating the same type of assessment time and time again? Create a copy of an existing one instead! To create a copy of an assessment, simply click on the Actions button when editing the assessment, and then click Copy Assessment. A new copy is created and you’re taken directly to it!

Collabra now supports Canvas.

Teachers, you may now connect to your Canvas accounts to:

  • Import students from your Canvas classes.
  • Sync assessments and grades back to the Canvas LMS.

Assessments now support embedded attachments (sheet music, for example).

When creating an assessment for your students, you may now optionally configure an attachment to be displayed to them while they’re creating their attempts. A good example of this might be displaying sheet music to students for an assessment only while they’re performing the attempt.

When a student creates an attempt with an embedded attachment, they will first have a customizable amount of time to view the content before their recording begins. A countdown displays on the screen, and the recording begins once it reaches zero.

While the student is recording their attempt, the embedded attachment is still displayed in the center of the screen while the student’s Camera preview shows up in the bottom-right so they can see how they’re doing.

Once the student has finished their attempt, they can no longer see the embedded attachment.

Continued improvements to reliable uploads on Collabra Mobile.

For some users with older phones, recording long practices would result in your app crashing repeatedly. This will be fixed in the next release of the app on the App Store, so make sure to update your app.

Send messages to your students.

We now support sending direct messages to students, complete with a flexible rich-text editor and the ability to add multiple students to the same thread. Send a message to your entire class, or to one specific student.

Students also have the ability to send teachers a message individually.

Teachers have access to moderation controls. You can remove any student message, or remove a student from the thread entirely.
